We discovered Brave Gowns almost 4 years ago when Em was scheduled for spinal correction surgery. Em battles Rett Syndrome and spinal correction surgery is a very common occurrence with those who have Rett. We knew it was going to be a tough surgery and wanted to her to have something comfy to recover in. As soon as we found Brave Gowns, we knew they would be perfect! As many of Em’s Rett friends also faced spinal correction surgery we gifted gowns to them because we knew how great they were and how they made a hospital stay a little happier.
Fast forward 4 years. After 4 years of no hospitalizations, Em faced an emergency surgery at the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital in Burlington, Vermont. We grabbed her Brave Gowns because we knew they made a hospital stay just a little bit brighter and more comfortable Em’s nurses made a big deal about her cool gowns. I asked Em if she would like to donate some gowns to help other sick kids have a more fun and comfy stay the hospital and she gave me a grin.
