For the past eight birthdays, we've honored Sophie by raising Brave Gowns for children who will spend the holidays at Cleveland Clinic Children's.

• Sophie's 12th birthday: We filled the need at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
• Sophie's 13th birthday: 356 Brave Gowns delivered to TriStar Children's Hospital at Centennial in Nashville.
• Sophie's 14th birthday: 115 Brave Gowns donated to Cleveland Clinic Children's.
• Sophie's 15th birthday: 128 Brave Gowns donated to Cleveland Clinic Children's.
• Sophie's 16th birthday: 150 Brave Gowns donated to Cleveland Clinic Children's.

Now, as we celebrate Sophie's 18th birthday, we can't wait to see how many children we'll reach together.

They allow quick access to IV lines and ports without disturbing a child, make gown changes easier when needed, and are MRI-safe. Most importantly, they help children feel like kids instead of patients during some of the hardest days of their lives.

For our family, Brave Gowns became a staple. We always kept one in the car because we never knew when Sophie might need to be admitted. Having something familiar, comfortable, and made just for her brought a little light into an otherwise difficult place.

Hearing the stories of children whose hospital stays have been made just a little brighter in Sophie's honor is one of the greatest gifts our family could ever receive. Our hope is to provide a Brave Gown to every child admitted to Cleveland Clinic Children's over the holidays.

Sophie's legacy has always been one of hope. Even during the hardest days of her own journey, she chose joy. She found reasons to laugh through the fear, danced through the pain, and never stopped sharing her light with those around her.
