"She’s been hospitalized since 7/12. She under went an intestinal transplant. Shortly after she developed many complications, first it was Cyclospora, then an abdominal abscess, then she unfortunately caught adenovirus. It then dissipated and spread throughout her body. The adeno caused her to be on a ventilator for 6 weeks, and also developed pseudomonas and pneumonia. The adeno also caused two back to back severe kidney injuries. Ultimately she went into rejection and had to have the intestines removed due to GI bleeding over a month requiring frequent transfusions. Now she is working on recovery and is back to being ultra-short gut. She is more short gut than before. We’re facing another 4-8 weeks in the hospital then rehab, she can no longer do anything and is now total care."
