This gown will be gifted to six-year-old Elias who is going through treatment for Leukemia. This is what Elias' teacher shared with us about his journey:
Elias is a 1st grader at my school. He was in my kindergarten class last year, but I still get to work with him occasionally. He was recently diagnosed with leukemia just a few weeks ago. Elias and his mother are houseless currently, but staying in accommodations, graciously provided by the hospital. I would love to see Elias in a brave gown! He is so upbeat, but currently experiencing pretty bad symptoms to his treatment. I would love to see his reaction when he receives his Brave Gown!
"Elias LOVES his family, school, and all things cars! Elias is profoundly and proudly Deaf himself. He stays in our dorms during the week.
This has been difficult on the family. They are not only an extremely close family, but Elias is also a twin. His twin, and 2 younger brothers, have been really missing Elias and Elias them. As you can imagine, being a single parent is HARD on a good day. With Elias’s treatment over 6 hours away, Elias’s mom, Erica, had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave her 3 younger sons (all under 6 years old) with family members so she can care for Elias. Erica is a WARRIOR, through and through.
At this tender, young age of 6 years old, Elias is already a WARRIOR! He has had more struggles than most adults will experience in their lifetime, but he has NEVER let that stop him! He is so sweet, full of life, and it’s just a pleasure to have been a small part of his educational journey. Thank you Brielle Bird and family for the introduction to Brave Gowns!
