"Ava was just 7 years old and completely healthy before all of this. What we thought was just a cold turned into something we never could have imagined. After a visit with her pediatrician, we were directed to take her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with AML this past July. One day we were living our normal life, and the next our entire world was turned upside down.  The diagnosis itself was devasting, but learning how to navigate life after the diagnosis has been a journey of its own. Suddenly, we had to figure out how to continue school for her, figure out childcare for our other children, especially our baby, how to stay involved in our older son’s life, and how to give our kids some sense of normalcy while our family was essentially split in half with no warning signs. We had to think about finances, keeping up with our home, and simply figuring out how to function day to day. Ava has spent over 80 days and counting in the hospital receiving treatment and still through it all she continues to amaze us with her strength, resilience, and ability to find joy wherever she can. Ava is such a sweet, loving girl who loves arts and craft, spending time with her two brothers, her favorite color is pink, Kpop Hunters, likes to play Soccer, loves all animals Animals (except snakes and spiders), Wants to be a vet when grows up, Loves bunnies (has a gray and white bunny name Oreo), loves listening to Taylor Swift, legos, Outdoors, slime, Barbie’s, Snowboarding, Beach, Swimming, playing on her Nintendo switch, YouTube, Roblox, likes to listen to music and dance, and aphmau."
