This week, our sweet Charlie turns two — a milestone that feels especially meaningful after the journey he’s faced this year.
Charlie was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called XIAP deficiency, which led to a life-threatening immune reaction known as HLH. Over the summer, he bravely underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant at Lurie Children’s Hospital — the only treatment that could give him a new, healthy immune system.
Through countless hospital stays, procedures, and treatments, Charlie has remained his joyful, resilient self — riding wagons through the halls, “scanning” things with his homemade badge, piling on scrunchies, and filling the 17th floor with giggles.
What has stood out most throughout Charlie’s journey is the incredible care and compassion of the 17th floor team at Lurie Children’s. They didn’t just provide world-class medical treatment — they surrounded Charlie and his parents with love, comfort, and kindness every single day. They found ways to make the hospital feel like home, filling the halls with encouragement, laughter, and genuine care. For that, we are endlessly grateful.
Brave Gowns are the perfect way to bring comfort and fun when patients have to get something scary done! We use our fun designs to give everyone a little hope and normalcy at a time they need it most. Brave Gowns aren't your typical hospital gown. They have IV access on both sleeves, access to chest ports and heart monitors and last but definitely not least, the gowns are softer than you can even imagine, which is crucial to children going through such harsh treatments.
WHEN ORDERING THESE GOWNS, CHECKOUT WILL ASK FOR YOUR ADDRESS, BUT THEY WILL SHIP DIRECTLY TO A CHILD, NOT TO YOU PERSONALLY!
