Busy has brought us all so much hope, love and laughs throughout the years. She is a passionate advocate who shares her life like an open book to try to help us all feel a little less alone in our hardest of times. This is our chance to help Busy with her heart!  Kate, a best childhood friend of Busy's, braved a rapid bout of cancer.

A small glimpse of Busy's beautiful words to Kate, "My most beautiful Kate girl, I will never understand this as long as I live. I love you I love you I love you and now you’re no longer in pain. The best mom to those beautiful, beautiful kids and the best wife to one of the truly great ones, as we’ve all had the chance to witness in this, the worst of times. My sweet girl, you were more than just a sparkly person- you shined like the damn sun. It’s the honor of my existence that you called me your best friend for the past 30 years. It wasn’t nearly enough time on earth and honey, I’m so so sorry you had to leave the party early but I promise you that I will do all the things and I know you’ll do all of the things where you are now bathed in that light."

 While we never could try to make sense of the why, we can help Busy navigate her pain by making an impact in honor of Kate. We'd love your help spreading the memory of Kate's beautiful soul by bringing comfort to children going through treatment. We have over 540 children on our waiting list waiting for Brave Gowns. "If I have learned anything from being a peds onc nurse over the past 7 years, it is to advocate whenever there is a chance. I had the sweetest newly diagnosed patient the other day who got a PICC line placed. She called out and asked to be disconnected for her bath and mentioned how it was a hassle to be disconnected and reconnected every time. I was told that the hospital transitioned to better "quality" gowns, but they all only had ties in the back and weren't suited for those with PICC lines, which is every child on our floor. I felt a tad embarrassed as I encouraged the family to search online for gowns that would make their days a little easier. This felt so wrong after their life was just turned upside down. If there is anything you can do, please help!"
