A run-off election is essentially a rematch that is held when none of the candidates meet the criteria for winning. Under Georgia Law, candidates must receive a majority of the vote to win an election. If no candidate breaks 50 percent, the top two vote-getters then face off again in a runoff election to determine the winner.
The 2020 election will carry historic consequences. But foreign interference and sophisticated voter suppression threatens our ability to freely elect our leaders. If we start early and work together, we will ensure that every American voter’s voice is heard and that democracy wins. Fair Fight 2020 is building voter protection teams with Democratic state parties or local allies across the country to protect the right to vote–and we are starting now. All net proceeds will be donated directly to Fair Fight.
